What We Do

Organic Connects is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was established in May 2017 and aims to provide environmental opportunities for school-age youth and their families who live in urban communities of Northeast Ohio. Our engagement focuses heavily on social justice, stewardship, education, and careers in the environmental field to increase diversity within environmental organizations by enacting our four pillars; Social Justice, Education, Recreation, and Engagement.

By coordinating nature-focused events and implementing STREAM (Science, Technology, Recreation, Engineering, Art, Math) curricula to address social barriers and health inequities more commonly experienced in impoverished communities we work to increase awareness of toxic stress factors, provide access to information, create pathways to education and employment, and develop a passion for living more fulfilling and healthy lifestyles while building progressive and inclusive communities through environmentalism.

MISSION:

Organic Connects aspires to be a nexus for positive impact through cultural awareness by addressing social barriers to engaging residents, youth, and families of urban communities with the natural environment. We strive to encourage community engagement, investment, and health through environmental justice.

VISION:

Through community partnerships and hands-on experiences, urban communities can acquire the skills necessary to self-sustain green communities and youth can become well-qualified college applicants and internship candidates while addressing the inequities of environmental organizations and networks that perpetuate the cycle.
